Wanted to say something in French but...

I can't remember anything!!! Oh cept for Stillo Blanc - White Pen. The ONLY thing I learnt whilst in France!!!!

BUT, I have to learn some more, and fast!!!! Cause I'm off to France AGAIN!!!! Can't believe it! I am so very very excited!!! Not until September, but the way this year is flying by it will be on my doorstep before you can imagine!!

And the best thing of all? I am going to meet one of my scrapping idols! Yep, Rebecca Sower. I have totally loved her work for years, never get tired of seeing her creations. She is always evolving, changing her style. LOVE her stuff!!! SOOOO excited!!!!!! I wonder if she she would like to go shopping for bags with me too...

Oh, and another fun fact?? Sally M is going to be there and in my classes! Whoohoooo!!!! Havren't seen Sally in forever, and thought that now she is in Scotland it would be a very long time before I did see her again. But no!!! Isn't that amazing?? I love this little thing called scrapbooking!

Fun news for today! Makes me smile to think about it. Cept for the travel. Urgh, THAT bit I could do without. Oh well, I will just sew for the whole trip again. Its amazing how quick it makes it all!

No, its not 3, as the advert would have you believe! Here, it is 78. Why?? 78 is the number days until Maeve's birthday. 78 is the number of times I have to say 'no darl, it isn't your birthday today, not until July'. 78 is the number of times I will say 'yes darl, you will be 5 when it IS your birthday'.

Roll on the birthday!

Then the magic number will be 158. 158 days until I can say 'yes darl, it IS Christmas tomorrow...'

Hey all! Thanks for your good wishes!

Good news - ankles NOT broken! Yay! Just sore and sorry. Worst of all? I haven't felt like sewing! Until today that is. So back to it!!!! I have to see if I can actually FIND my table (what chaos!) and then I have some plans afoot.

Has anyone else been inspired to sew as well?? Create some new art?? Send me some links so that I can see!!!

Hope you are all enjoying kids being back at school like I am! Yay! Although, the extra pairs of hands have been nice the last few days! Thank goodness for good friends!

I'm an idiot...

I fell last night. Sprained my ankles...

What was that I hear? Did I make a typo? NOPE. I sprained em both. One is just lightly sprained and I can walk on it with pain, the other, swollen up like a freakin' balloon. Argh!!!!!!!!!

I've sprained my right ankle twice before, both times I was 8mths pregnant (different pregnancies of course!). Can you imagine? Now when I am pregnant it looks like I have a veranda out the front, I am HUGE! So imagine me being massive and on crutches. NOT a pretty sight!!!

And no. Not pregnant now. This one is just a freak of events. Argh!!!!!!!

So there you go. That is my whine for the day. Thank goodness for wheelie computer chairs so that I can get around the house. The kids think its hilarious! Me? Not so much...

Is this an excuse to sew some more she wonders...

Latest framed piece...

So, I mentioned that I was working on another sewing piece. Finally got the photos taken!

Not sure what prompted me to do this one, maybe the Level 5 water restrictions we now have? Possibly some photos I was looking at the other day. Anyhoo, it came to me as I was going to bed and I just had to work on it the next day.

The text on the back of it reads...

'Drought relief...

An entire country, grinding to a halt, waiting for the drought to break. Searching the skies for a sniff of moisture, praying for even the smallest drops to fall. Remembering water aplenty, before the earth turned dry and the disappearing green mask revealed the red dust below. Optimisim that the glittering fields will one day return so that we may practice such harsh lessons learned.'

The background is a piece of embroidery canvas painted by hand (quite literally, I used my hands rather than a brush!) with felt and buttons stitched on top.

Didn't quite make it...

So I really wanted to share some photos of a project I have been working on for the last few days, but have been out all day and it was too dark when we got home to take photos (school holiday fun!!). So instead I will simply say that tonight is Heroes night! Go Super Hiro!!!! And 24! Go Jack!!! Great TV night, not so great for creating!

More sewing...

Another little project I finished last week. Its a handbag to store stuff in like threads etc. Just for a bit of fun! The closure is a BasicGrey magnetic buckle. All of it is handsewen, my machine is STILL packed away in a box!

I have another couple of these laid out ready to stitch up but keep getting sidetracked. My mind is racing with ideas at a hundred miles an hour right now! I gotta slow down!

Where have I been??

There have been lots of questions about where I've been, what I've been doing. I guess the answer really isn't easy, there are so many elements to my online (and offline) silence. Most of them I won't go into, I don't think they are really stories for general consumption. I will say though that I am trying to get myself into a better place. Move forward, look toward a better year. I know that a part of that positivity is to keep myself busy, keep creating, keep in touch with friends. So hopefully I can do that through my blog and other means.

Sooo, what has changed significantly in my world? Riordan has moved back home. After two years with his Dad he decided that he would like to be with us again and started at school with the kids at the beginning of the year. So far all is going well and he seems to be settling in quite well! Liam started High School (lord help us all), Gael turned three, Aoiffe developed a 'tween' attitude and our family of cats grew by another (Edward was rescued about 6 weeks ago). Michael is still up on Mornington Island and so I live as a single parent (thank goodness for the support of family and friends!).

I am still creating, but through a different medium at the moment. I haven't scrapbooked in months, have turned to sewing to keep me company. Not that I have stopped scrapbooking! Far from it, and in fact have to do some this week to prepare for some classes coming up. More that I needed a bit of break. Plus its fun to collect new supplies! More felt, sequins and buttons than you can poke a stick at!

Here is one of my creations. I made it for Chrissy Berry as a part of Ngaire's fundraiser last year. Yes, I know that was MONTHS ago. I am still catching up...

So, I am slowly catching up on things I promised to people last year. I am up to around August... Yep, that far behind, I am so sorry to everyone who is waiting for something! I promise that I have a list here and I am slowly working through it all. Unfortunately my pace is determined by the 12 little creatures in my life (yep, the kids and cats!).

Anyhoo, thanks to everyone who welcomed me back with open arms, despite my deathly silence. I appreciate every email and message that has been sent!
